I'm Trying To Let You Know - 1
The MCR fic I said I'd put up. Hope you guys like it!
[Raine's POV]
Jake held my hand as we walked towards my house. He was my boyfriend, sort of, since last week when he asked me out. Jake was one of the popular guys at school, but he wasn't one of the overconfident, rude ones. He was one of the nice, smart and good-looking popular kids at school, which was why I had agreed to go out with him and be his girlfriend.
Soon we were at my house's porch. "Well... Raine, do you want to go out for a movie later?" he asked in a shy tone.
"I'm not sure if I can make it. I'll call you later to confirm, okay?" I replied, letting go of his hand.
"Okay. Bye, Raine," Jake said, walking off.
I looked at his shadow and smiled. I headed up the path to my front door when I heard Frank call my name.
Frank Iero was my next-door neighbour. His house was situated at the end of the street. We were the same age and attended the same classes at the same school. Frank and I had grown up together, and so we were best friends.
At least, I thought of him as my best friend. Frank was always hanging out with my elder brother, Ray, and my other next-door neighbours, the Way brothers. The four of them were close, while I was left out sometimes.
Frank and I rarely fought, but now it seemed like we were going to have a little quarrel. "Hi Frank. What's up?" I said in an almost bored voice.
"You're going out with that Weston dude?" he said, his eyes narrowing.
"Yeah. He's really nice and sweet, you know. By the way, he has a name. It's Jake, not 'the Weston dude'."
"Oh, okay. Gonna ignore me now that you've got a boyfriend?" he said loudly.
"Frank. come on. You know you're my best friend. Shut up about Jake," I retorted, my patience wearing thin.
"I'm not going to. He seems like a little wimp," Frank argued.
I rolled my eyes and stepped into my house. I didn't want to talk to Frank about Jake. I thought he had a little jealousy problem.
However, I faced my brother as soon as I was in the house. "You're home early, aren't you?" Ray scolded.
"I met Jake and we talked quite a lot. Then he walked me home. Simple as that. I didn't do anything illegal. Could you be any more uptight? Relax!" I assured him.
Ray was almost as worse as Frank. I did not mind him as much only because he was my brother. Ray's shoulders sagged.
"Okay, suit yourself. I'm going over to Gerard's. I was supposed to go earlier, but didn't only 'cause I had to wait for you to pass you the house keys," he sighed. "And take care of yourself. I've heard things about Jake, I don't want him to break my little sister's heart."
"Jake's a nice guy, I swear. What you heard were probably just false rumours," I reassured Ray, going up the staircase to reach my bedroom.
Moments later I was up in my room. I took my homework folder and pencilcase from my bag and tossed the bag onto my bed. As I sat down at my L-shaped desk, I looked up and saw Frank waving at me from his bedroom window. Our rooms were just opposite, which meant that we could hear each other pretty clearly if we spoke loudly enough.
I opened my window and then Frank smiled. He shouted, "Sorry for just now! You going over to Mikey's?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "Maybe, I need to do my homework. Jake asked me out too," I shouted back.
Frank frowned, then closed his bedroom window in seeming frustration. I decided to act on an impulse I suddenly had. I tossed a paper ball at Frank's window, and just managed to hit it. He opened the window and yelled, "What?"
"How about you come over and we can do homework together?" I yelled back.
The wide smile on his face gave me all the answers I needed.
